Overview:
SCHOOLHOUSE links the creative mission of glo’s performance platform to
education, bringing neighborhoods, schools and families into the world of contemporary
dance. SCHOOLHOUSE is envisioned as a living laboratory for dance education,
working with diverse communities throughout the Atlanta area and beyond, by creating
long-term partnerships with schools, teachers and citizens.
Programs:
gloLAB utilizes the choreographic process to assist emerging contemporary artists in
strengthening basic proficiencies to develop analytical and abstract thinking,
interpretation and problem-solving skills. Current with glo’s public works,
SCHOOLHOUSE addresses ways to use dance and collaboration with art forms to
bridge gaps created by diversity of experience, perspective, culture, and socioeconomic
background.
Summer INTENSIVE is for experienced dancers who want to learn more about the
platforms values and methods that make glo unique. It is a curriculum designed for
dancers to intensively practice their craft with and through each other, inspired by values
that we believe inform not only great collaborative work but great dancing: the ability to
dance spontaneously, instinctively and with joyful abandon, while maintaining the
specificity and discipline required of contemporary choreography.
gloPUBLIC, offers free classes to non-dancers in Atlanta on a monthly basis. affordable, open dance classes to professional dancers.
Not only is the SCHOOLHOUSE where trust and risk lead to growth, but it is a beautiful reminder of why glo was founded in the first place.
